Katy Kat Eye Mascara and Katy Kat Matte Lipstick

I was happy to be part of the recent BzzAgent product review opportunity for the new line of Katy Kat Eye Mascara and Katy Kat Matte Lipstick. Lets get this out of the way first: I LOVE COVER GIRL! Cover Girl mascara is my favourite mascara, and I’ve been a loyal customer since the late 80s (if you do the math, that makes me… OLD). Cover Girl has been my “go-to” make-up since I started wearing make-up when I was in high school. I don’t wear a lot of make-up now that I am in my 40s, but I always have Cover Girl mascara in my make-up bag for those days where I want to look a little more put together.

I love that I can wear Cover Girl make-up without having an allergic reaction (I have sensitive/allergic skin), and I love how affordable Cover Girl is! Both the Katy Kat Eye Mascara and the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick lipsticks can be currently bought at Walmart for only $6.97!

My favourite out of the two products was definitely the lipstick. I picked an awesome neutral colour that is understated and perfect for every day use. It goes on smooth, and doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry (which I hate). I normally prefer to wear lip gloss (as I hate my lips feeling dry) but the Katy Kat Matte went on so smooth that I actually didn’t feel like I was even wearing lipstick at all.  I’m not at all flashy, so I’m glad I received this light, neutral colour for testing. I would buy it again!

The Katy Kat Eye wasn’t my favourite, but part of that is because it was just a little flashy for my taste. I loved the vibrant blue, it was such a fun colour, but it was the wrong colour for me. On days when I wear make-up, I choose to wear a touch of mascara (normally a black-brown), a neutral lip gloss or lip stick, and maybe a touch of foundation (if any at all). The blue was a little too much for me, and I didn’t feel comfortable wearing it. It was really outside of my comfort zone.

I didn’t like the applicator, and I didn’t like how the mascara went on fairly thick. I think this is just because I don’t use make-up on a daily basis, or even a weekly basis, and when I do wear it I use very little. The Katy Kat Eye went on a lot thicker than my usual Cover Girl LastBlast mascara does and I found it uncomfortable. This is a product that would have suited me well when I was in my 20s or early 30s, but now that I’m in my 40s I really keep the make-up toned down, and I normally only wear it for special occasions (like the one or two date nights I get a year).

Over all I am impressed and would definitely recommend both the Katy Kat Eye and the Katy Kat Matte. Even though the mascara definitely isn’t for me, its still a great product and the blue is such a nice colour! It was also REALLY easy to remove with just a regular eye make-up remover pad (a definite plus).
