Minute Ready to Serve Brown Rice & Quinoa Cups
We haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but we plan on including it with dinner later this week. I like that it will only take a couple of minutes to prepare!
UPDATE – JUNE 25
We tried the Minute Ready to Serve Brown Rice & Quinoa with our dinner the other night and it was delicious. My 9 year old especially loved it and we will definitely be buying this when we go grocery shopping next week.
Mediterra Savory Bar with Bell Pepper & Green Olives
This is not your typical granola bar. This was very savoury (not at all sweet) and the olives were very distinctive and strong. I happen to like olives but this bar was a little overwhelming with the flavours. It was an interesting bar and I’m glad I tried it, although it was a miss for me.
Lance PB & J Grape Toasty Cracker Sandwiches
These smell very strongly of Welch’s grape jelly, and taste like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The crackers are very lightly salted, and crisp. Thomas allowed me one, and it was really tasty. I definitely need to try to find these again, because Thomas really liked them. They made for a different and unique cracker snack.
Daelman’s Caramel Stroopwafe
I haven’t had a chance to try these cookies yet, but they are on my list for this weekend!
Beanitos Baked White Bean Mac n’ Cheese Crunch
These were delicious. Hayden only allowed me to have one, and then he polished off the bag himself one night for his bedtime snack. They taste like a cheesie, and he had no idea they were actually made with white beans.
Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps
These are REALLY good! They taste like a delicious, perfectly salted pretzel but are crisp like a cracker-chip! I consider myself lucky that Thomas allowed me to have a broken piece!
Divina Fig Spread
I haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but I do like figs and fig spread. I will probably make a batch of plain muffins and use this on them instead of my usual lemon curd.
iwon! Organics Sriracha Protein Chips
I can’t eat food with “heat” so I am not going to try these. I’ve put them aside for Chris but he hasn’t tried them yet.
J+M Foods Original Cheese Straws or Pasta Chips
Our Original Cheese Straws are a traditional Southern delicacy combining a light crisp texture, with just a hint of “hot.”
These had a really nice texture, and a great old cheddar flavour to them. I have a very mild palate, so these were a little bit too “hot” for me, but Thomas and Chris both liked them.
Sheffa Zesty Snack Mix
I’m not a fan of spicy, so I gave this to Chris. He hasn’t had a chance to try it yet, but it looks like an interesting trail mix blend.
Angel Mint Original Mints
I really liked these! The Angel Mints start out hard but they soften up quickly and the taste AND texture reminds of the little pastel mints I used to eat when I was growing up.
FlapJacked Protein Smoothie Mix With Greek Yogurt
I haven’t had a chance to try this one yet, but it will be at the top of my list once I buy some more milk!
UPDATE JUNE 25
Thomas wanted to try the smoothie over the weekend and gave it 4 thumbs up (yes, he included my thumbs in that). We mixed the smoothie and milk together with my immersion blender to create a really creamy, slightly thickened protein “milk-shake.”
Now I’m tasked with trying to find this product for him again. Looks like a trip to the mall is in my foreseeable future (as according to the store finder on the FlapJacked website, Nutrition House sells their products here in Calgary).
Shine Organics Fruit, Veggie and Chia Squeeze Pack
I am always apprehensive about fruit and vegetables pouches after not-so-good experiences in the past, but this one was quite tasty. This one had a strong banana flavour and the other flavours were very mellow.
For June, our Love with Food Deluxe box was definitely all about the savoury snacks, with several of them being spicy. I received 14 snacks plus 3 Angel Mints (for a total of 17 items).
What we love most about the Love with Food snack boxes is that it is such a fun way to experience new snacks that we otherwise wouldn’t have been exposed to! The snacks in each box are always a really fun eclectic mix of sweet and savoury, and you never know what you’re going to get! For June, we found a couple snacks we loved, a couple that we didn’t love, and we are looking forward to trying everything else over the next week or so. The experience of snacking with Love with Food is fun, exciting, and definitely a treat!
