The Past, the Present, and the Future through the eyes of Disney
PINOCCHIO SIGNATURE COLLECTION
“Pinocchio” is considered one of the greatest animated films ever made, with two Academy Awards® — for best original score and best original song “When You Wish Upon a Star” – and a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, it will delight a whole new generation of dreamers with its masterful animation, unforgettable characters and award-winning music. The Walt Disney Signature Collection release includes hours of classic bonus material and exclusive features. “Pinocchio” tells the tale of wood-carver Geppetto’s beloved puppet who embarks on a thrilling quest – with faithful friend Jiminy Cricket – that tests his bravery, loyalty and honesty, all virtues he must learn to fulfill his heart’s desire: to become a real boy.
I grew up with Disney. The very first movie I ever saw in the theatre was Bambi during a re-release in 1975 when I was a toddler. In 1994, when I became a Mom, the very first movie I ever took my oldest son to was The Lion King . He was only a few weeks old. My son’s first Christmas was full of The Lion King, and I shared my love of Disney with him as he grew up, and I continue to share my love of Disney with my youngest boys.
I can’t imagine a life where there is no Disney. Disney makes me want to believe in magic, to make a wish upon a star, and to believe that my dreams CAN come true!
What I love most about the Disney Classics are their timeless quality. My children enjoy watching the movies as much as I did when I was their age. There is nothing more special, in my eyes, than being able to share my childhood with my own children. Disney IS timeless magic, never aging, always relevant.
This year, Pinocchio is 77 years old! Take that in for a moment. 77 years! Its amazing to imagine all the millions of people who have enjoyed Pinocchio in the past, and all the millions of people who will enjoy Pinocchio in the future!
Originally released to theatre on February 9, 1940, Pinocchio was re-released in 1945, 1954, 1962, 1971, 1984, and 1992. 1985 marked the first time Pinocchio was released to VHS, allowing families to watch at home whenever they wanted.
