Metal Cats Colouring Book

For all of us who ONLY want to color outside of the lines. If you aren’t one, it’s likely you know a rebel or two who can identify.
Skulls and Siamese. Corpse paint and Persians. Baphomet, pentagrams, blood, and tabbies!
Metal Cats Coloring Book combines two juxtaposed and amazing subjects: the extreme personalities of the true metal music scene and their adorable kitties. Based on the photographs of the book Metal Cats, these incredibly cute and fluffy felines appear side by side with their loving owners with bands like Black Goat, Thrones, Isis, Lightning Swords of Death, Book of Black Earth, Skarp, Harassor, Akimbo, Aldebaran, Atriarch, Oak, Ghoul, Ludicra, Holy Grail, Xasthur, Cattle Decapitation, Murder Construct, Exhumed, Morbid Angel, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Gypsyhawk, Nausea, Phobia, and Napalm Death, along with many other metalheads.
The boys have dozens of colouring books on their art shelves at any given time, and I love how many new and interesting colouring books have become available with the adult colouring book craze over the last couple of years. I love the added difficulty and challenge, and the added variety from the typical children’s colouring books that have traditionally been available. In my house we love rock/metal music, tattoos, and of course cats, so Metal Cats was an easy decision when looking for our next colouring book to add to our “road trip activity pack” for our upcoming family vacation.
New from powerHouse Books, Metal Cats combines all of these things into an interesting, unique and fun colouring book that is great for all ages (even if you can’t colour in the lines yet).
In part of my attempt to keep the boys busy during our upcoming road trip/family vacation, I am putting together a “road trip activity pack” of hand-held games and toys, books, and pencil crayons to hopefully keep the boys occupied in the truck. We are going to bring Metal Cats and a pack of pencil crayons with us as part of our activity pack. There are enough fun pages for the boys to share, and it will hopefully keep them busy during some of our longer stretches of driving in between rest stops!
Featuring 30 original drawings, this book will make you smile as you colour in the cats and tattooed rockers.
About the author:
Alexandra Crockett, a musician, zinester and jewelry designer, has been present and active in the metal community since age 15 and is currently finishing up a doctoral degree in the Bay Area. Beginning her idea for the book by doing promotional photos for bands and friends she would cat-sit for, she found an interesting dynamic between men in the metal scene and their cats. The idea formed around giving accolades to local musicians and artists in the metal scene, while also bringing attention to no-kill shelters and their importance for animal rights.
Established in 1995, powerHouse Books is a world-renowned and critically acclaimed publisher, best known for their diverse publishing program which specializes in fine art, documentary, pop culture, fashion, and celebrity books.
