SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE
A Whole New World Awaits
A Smurfs Family Movie Night Moment
SMURFS: The Lost Village
In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!
I don’t always get excited for animated movies, but when I do the excitement is HUGE. Smurfs was one of my favourite cartoons growing up. I never missed an episode. I would wait not so patiently all week long for Saturday mornings so I could get my weekly Smurf fix.
When I heard about Smurfs: The Lost Village I actually did a small happy dance. To prepare for the new Smurf movie on the Big Screen, I decided to throw a little Smurf party for my boys and I for our weekly movie night. We watched the last Smurf movie on Netflix and had some very appropriate Smurf-approved snacks! What are Smurf-approved snacks? Candied BLUE popcorn of course!
Candied Smurf Popcorn
Its not a movie night without popcorn, and for our popcorn to be Smurf-approved it had to be blue!
To make your own Candied Smurf Popcorn you will need a few simple ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen already! The recipe I used is similar to the one I use for making caramel popcorn except instead of brown sugar I used white sugar.
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (enough for a good sized bowl full)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp margarine or salted butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp water
- blue food colouring (use more for a more vibrant colour or less for more muted)
- Pop your popcorn. Set aside in a bowl or large pot (for mixing).
In a sauce pan add the rest of the ingredients and melt together over medium heat.
Boil for 2-3 minutes.
Pour candy mixture over popcorn and stir well (or you can use a bowl with a tight fitting lid and shake vigorously)
Store in an air tight container (will keep fresh for a few weeks although its never lasted longer than a day in my house!). Popcorn will be chewy and sweet!
