A is for Asteroids, Z is for Zombies

An Adult Parody Picture Book

Once Upon a Time … We All Died

From author Paul Lewis and illustrator Kenneth Lamug comes the hildarious A is for Asteroids, Z is for Zombies: A Bedtime Book About the Coming Apocalypse (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $14.99 US/$19.99 CAN, October 2017), the perfect gift for fans of children’s book parodies such as Go the F**k to Sleep.

Taylor and I both LOVE the adult parody picture books, and it is my mission to ensure he has a nice and well-rounded collection. This year, A is For Asteroids, Z is for Zombies will find its way to him on Christmas morning. Full of pure sarcasm, I know he’s going to get a huge kick out of it!

Starting with a father whose son has been asking questions about global dangers, A is For Asteroids, Z is for Zombies provides an entire alphabet’s worth of apocalyptic alternatives, catastrophic calamities, and doomsday disasters. With macabre verse and fantastically gory illustrations, this would-be children’s book provides gallows humour for our doom-haunted times.

About the author:

Paul Lewis is an English professor at Boston College, the president of the Poe Studies Association, and the author of Cracking Up: American Humor in a Time of Conflict. A fascination with gothic fiction and horror films prepared him to publish “The Funeral Game” in Crazy Magazine while he was in graduate school, coin the word “Frankenfood” at the dawn of the GMO era, and write A is for Asteroids, Z is for Zombies.

About the illustrator:

Ken Lamug is a filmmaker, photographer, author, and illustrator best known for his children’s book, A Box Story, adult humour book, Hurts Like a Mother: A Cautionary Alphabet, and as co-creator of the independent film, Vegasland.
