don't go to school

Benno is really excited about his first day of school. But there’s an unexpected problem: MOMMY!

What can a little bear do when he’s all ready for his first day of school — but his mother isn’t? “DON’T GO TO SCHOOL!” she wails. “STAY HERE WITH ME!”  Mommy sulks, she’s shy, she even throws a tantrum.

Benno needs to convince Mom that everything will be okay. Luckily, the bright little bear comes up with an ingenious idea to help her adjust — one that many parents will recognize.

DON’T GO TO SCHOOL! will reassure and delight children nervous about their first day of school. Kids will love the laugh-out loud twist on a familiar theme while parents feeling a little teary-eyed to see their babies grow up and away will empathize with Mom.

First Official Day of Kindergarten

The first day of school can be scary, for both children and parents, and Don’t Go To School addresses this in a light and humorous way that I really enjoyed. This is the perfect book for preparing the little one in your life for his or her first day of school.

The book is just the right length, and easy-to-read. My son, who is heading into grade 2 next month, is able to read Don’t Go To School with very little help from me. The pictures are fun, and we both love how Benno is the calm and level-headed character, and Mom is a complete and total mess! I think most of us parents can relate to this as I’m sure I am not the only one who openly cried when sending the boys off on their first day of school.
