OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover Brings New Life to Lawn Chairs
Cleans, Brightens & Whitens – Removes the Toughest of Stains
Fall had come and gone and winter was here in full force. The thought of sitting out in the yard was furthest from my mind. Just before the first snowflake fell, I made sure that everything was tidied up and put away – except for the lawn chairs. Then the season began to change, the birds began to sing and the sun, that wonderful warm sun was calling out to me “sit outside and let my rays shine upon your pale skin”. After being out in the elements all winter long and through the rain in the spring, I thought that was it – they are garbage now. I admit it! I am very guilty of doing this – more than once. You would think I would learn. Have you left your lawn chairs outside all winter long? Have you left them out in the rain? I am here to tell you that there is a cure! OxiClean will put new life into your chairs and as an added bonus, your guests will actually want to sit in them – now!
I have to say that this chair was the worst of them all. I had tried soap with water and baking soda with vinegar. I even tried scrubbing bubbles and a few other cleaners and none of them worked. Sure they took off some surface dirt and dust but they certainly didn’t get the chairs clean. I was at a loss. I wanted them clean enough to where any of my guests would want to sit in them.
So, I did what any other person would do, I asked my friends and readers. I posted a photo of my filthy chair and sent out a plea to Facebook saying: “Pop Quiz: What would you use to clean chairs like these? I’ve tried everything I can think of besides bleach and nothing seems to be working. Comment with your cleaning tips and tricks. If yours works, I will feature YOUR Cleaning Tip in a blog post with full credit to you. I have 5 of these chairs so I can try many ideas. Go!”
I received some great responses. Some were suggestions for methods that I had already tried while others were something that I never had thought of.
A huge shout out and thank you to Melanie Ann Deland, Terry Baker and Treen Goodwin for suggesting OxiClean. This is the picture of the chair that I had posted. I have 2 more just like it. Today, I put OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover to the test!
I poured a scoop of OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover powder and about 1/2 cup of water onto the chair and began to scrub it all over. After I scrubbed the solution all over, I let it sit for about 10 minutes.
After letting the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover sit for a bit, I poured a little bit more water onto the chair and scrubbed it all over for about a minute and then began rising off the chair. I let the chair dry in the sun (which didn’t take very long today) and OMGosh what a difference!!!!! You would never think that this was the same chair at all. It cleaned my other two chairs just like this one just as great.
I live about a five(5) minute drive from the Stelco Lake Erie Works here in Nanticoke. I had forgotten how much black sooty dust can float around in the air and land on everything. It’s been some time since I have lived near a factory. I haven’t had to deal with that sort of thing since I lived in Hamilton. I guess that’s why each year they will send a cleaning crew to our home and clean the siding. In that one year span, it is black – beyond belief! That black soot is what has stained my lawn chairs – that plus the rain and the puddling on the seat. OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover is a lifesaver! I can’t believe how great of a job it did in restoring my chairs.
Now – because the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover did such a fantastic job on the grey chairs, I couldn’t wait to see the result after cleaning my blue chairs, such as this one here.
I took the same steps with the blue chair as I did with the grey one. I poured a scoop of OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover powder and about 1/2 cup of water onto the chair and began to scrub it all over. After I scrubbed the solution all over, I let it sit for about 10 minutes.
The result was outstanding! My blue chairs are like brand new. To look at it now you’d never know or even think that it was stained black as bad as it was. The chair is clean and bright and blue! I am WOWED!!!
Now that my chairs are all pretty and my guests will actually want to take seat. I think I will be using OxiClean for more than just laundry from now on. Since I used it all up cleaning my chairs, a trip to the store is on the agenda.
Have you used OxiClean for more than just laundry? Let me know! I’d love to hear about it.
