My Reverse Bucket List: The Top 10 Things I Will Never Do

The Top 10 Things I Will Never Do

A Reverse Bucket List

reverse bucket list

I am not an adventurous person. Those who know me would never say my name and adventure in the same sentence (or conversation for that matter).  Some might say I’m quite boring.  I always pick the safe route, the risk-free route, the quiet route. I have never really gone anywhere, and I’ve never been outside of Canada before. I’m happiest being at home, and although there are a few places in the world I have always wanted to travel, I’ve never wanted to do anything dangerous or dare-devilish. Exciting to me is a good old fashioned rock concert, or a day at the Calgary Stampede with the kids.  Some people have a Bucket List of exciting things they want to do before they die, but I have Reverse Bucket List of exciting things that I NEVER want to do!

In no particular order, these are the top 10 things that I never want to do. Ever. Just give me a good book and a cozy place to read at home or some time to binge watch Supernatural or Gilmore Girls on Netflix, and I’m content!

  • Sky Diving. Jumping out of an airplane is not at all my idea of a good time. Bravo to those who can do it, but I’ll keep my feet on the ground thanks!

  • Going on a Cruise. I have a really strong deep-seeded fear of large bodies of water. I don’t like boats, and I don’t like swimming.

  • Going on a tropical vacation. I don’t like the heat. The sun is not my friend. I can burn in less than 2 minutes, and I can get heat stroke at temperatures as mild as 20˚ Celsius. I prefer cooler weather.

  • Rock Climbing (Mountain Climbing). Its high, its dangerous, and its definitely outside of my ‘safety zone.’

  • Scuba Diving (here is my deep-seeded fear of water again).

  • Going on a Hot Air Balloon. Too high up, TOO HIGH UP!

  • Swimming in Natural Waters (lakes, rivers, oceans). I don’t know how to swim (really) and as mentioned I have a deep-seeded fear of bodies of water.

  • Getting a tattoo. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE tattoos. I have a huge appreciation for tattoos. A tattooed man (or woman) is a beautiful thing! My oldest son has one, the boys dad has many. Even my Mom has tattoos. But for me, its just not going to happen. All those needles…all those needles!

  • Going Hunting. I will get my meat from the grocery store, thank you very much! No judgements (unless you kill for sport and then this is me judging you), but killing my own food is just not for me!

  • Eating Sushi (or anything else I consider to be gross). I barely eat cooked fish let alone raw fish. I’m a very unadventurous eater (and like it that way)!

I know what you’re thinking! You think I must be a pretty boring person! And you’re probably right. I’m a homebody, and am happiest when I am close to home where I feel safe and secure. I’m not a risk taker (I don’t even gamble, not even the scratch tickets!), and I’m okay with that. I’ll leave the risk taking for someone else!

What are some of the things on YOUR Reverse Bucket List? I’d love to hear them!

I can`t swim either, and have a fear of water! BUT I like to put my feet in the water and go to the beach ..lol..I love natural waters,I`m okay as long as I don`t go past my waist.
I`d love to go on a tropical vacation, and have been wanting to go on a cruise,,but afraid that once I got on the ship,I`d freak and want to get off..lol..I still want to go on one though.
I would never sky dive or go scuba diving (cause I`d drown..lol) ..and I`d never eat shushi,,yuck!!
    I think I would rock climb,that sounds like fun…maybe..
I would not go up in an hot air balloon either. Tattoes..hmm never say never..as my mid life crisis sets in,,never knows what will happen…LOL

If you’re boring, then so am I. I’m afraid of heights but I’m afraid of large bodies of water even more. I’m totally against hunting for fun. It’s cruel and unnecessary. Sometimes I love animals more than humans. As for tattoos, I have one but I have a super high pain tolerance. Oh! &…eww sushi.

I think I always love animals more than humans lol. I know I definitely prefer the squirrels and jack rabbits in my neighbourhood over my human neighbours lol. ~A

I am such a boring stay at home person also,, I would never do any of those things that you listed too risky for me. My feet are on the ground and they are staying there.

  4. Marilyn Legault

I love cruising, and hope someday to cruise to Antarctica.

  5. I am right along with you on the “not a risk taker” It looks like I wrote the blog. With the exception of the tattoos. I like a clean look. My 3 children are all risk takers. When they were small I would just say do it if you want but these things might happen and it will hurt. They learned to choose the risk with care but still willing to try. Which I am kind of thankful for. They have fun but not with out a brain and breaking bones and getting hurt.

  6. I don’t do any risky things usually but I’d love to skydive.

  7. I’m with you on skydiving, scuba diving, rock climbing, and tattoos, and I’d add anything to do with snakes!

I’m not an adventurous person either, though I would love to do scuba diving but then I’m not afraid of the water and can swim. Things like helter skelters, roller coasters, water slides, rock climbing, sky diving, hot air balloons, eating sushi, bloody meat are all big no nos for me.

  9. Doris Humber

I have a big fear of heights, so I would not do risky things involving heights. I think I would be open to Scuba Diving…..I may be apprehensive though, but I think I would give it a shot.

  10. Julie Waldron

I would never……Get a tattoo, wear flip flops(I HATE anything between my toes!), pet a mouse/rat(I’m terrified of rodents!), do karaoke, get a piercing anyplace other than my ears, ride on/drive a motorcycle, I’m sure there’s more but thats all I can think of.

  11. Zoe

I’m half-boring, half-adventurous, not really any in-between! I would never mountain climb because heights are… out of the question. 😉

  12. I find this so funny lo. the first 3 are really funny to me. I’d love to go Sky Diving, I love the ocean (I want to be a Marine Biologist) and I’m pretty much always on a tropical vacation, since I live in the Caribbean.
I don’t think I’ll ever go rock climbing though.

  13. Ashfa

Haha!! More than half the things you’ve listed are on my bucket list too but I don;t think I’ll ever get to do them either 😀 Especially sky diving and going on a cruise..
