I have never in my entire life owned a brand new cookware set, let alone a complete set. All throughout my life I’ve had miss matched cookware. I’ve owned and use a lot of “non-stick” cookware that really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I have heard many great things about Starfrit The Rock cookware and I am beyond elated to have been given this opportunity to try them out. Let me just say that they ROCK!! Recipe inside too!

The set includes:
1.9 qt (1,8 L) saucepan with lid
3 qt (2,8 L) saucepan with lid
5 qt (4.7 L) stockpot with lid
8″ (20 cm) fry pan with lid
10″ (26 cm) fry pan with lid

Getting Started: What you should know:
Before using the cookware be sure to wash everything thoroughly in hot soapy water using a soft cloth or sponge (never use metal scouring pads) and then dry completely. Drying the cookware immediately after washing will prevent water spots on the stainless steel exterior from forming.

Now that the newest addition to my kitchen has been cleaned, it’s time to start cooking! I couldn’t wait to try out all of the cookware to make some tasty meals.

Stewed Turkey Legs (because I just don’t know what else to call it)
One of my favoureite staple meals during the fall and winter months

Ingredients:
2 Turkey Legs ( you can use chicken breast or whatever meat you wish)
1 can diced Tomatoes
1 large onion – diced
1 large carrot – grated
3 large potatoes – diced
1 bulb of garlic – chopped (use less garlic if desired)
1 tsp Rosemary
1 Bayleaf
Mozzarella Cheese – grated (optional)

Directions:
Prepare the 5 qt (4.7 L) stockpot for use by adding a teaspoon of cooking oil. This will result in a better performance of the non stick surface ( and is actually recommended). After adding the cooking oil, I took a paper towel and wiped the oil around the interior of the pot. This covered the surface with oil and removed excess oil that I did not want.

Once all the ingredients are prepared, place them into the pot adding the diced Tomatoes first, then the Turkey legs and so on. Once all the ingredients are added, place the pot onto the stove, cover and turn the burner on between low and medium heat. I used setting #4 on my stove.

NOTE: This cookware should NEVER be used on a maximum heat setting either for pre-heating or cooking as excessive surface temperatures can cause permanent damage to the non-stick surface.

Let simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally. When stirring, never use utensils with sharp edges (wood or plastic are best.) Also, Never cut anything in the cookware.

Plate and Serve. Top with Mozzarella cheese (if desired).

Emptying the Starfrit The Rock Stainless Steel cookware was so easy. Nothing stuck to it at all. If I wanted to, I could have just lightly rinsed under water, dried and put the pot away. The remains slid off so easily! This is something that my old crappy cookware would never have done.

I made bacon and eggs in the frying pan and they slid out like I’ve never seen before. Nothing was stuck to the pan at all. It was so easy to clean, I thought I was dreaming. I wanted to make more meals and showcase more about this amazing cookware set but my flu like pneumonia has a different agenda.

Other Important Features, Do’s & Dont’s:
* Add salt to water only after it has come to a boil. Salt grain deposit on the cookware bottom will attack the metal as the heat melts it down.
* Never put cold water into cookware that is hot. Let cookware cool down on its own or place in lukewarm soapy water.
* If using a ceramic stovetop, lift the pan rather than sliding it across the glass plate.
* Dishwasher safe. Take note that the shine of the coating may become dull and discolored due to the action of certain detergents. (Note: Their warranty does not cover this type of wear, as the performance of the cookware is not affected.)
* Bluish or “rainbow” discoloration is common on stainless steel cookware. This is easily removed by using a proprietary, non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner, which will help to retain the original brightness and assist with the removal of stubborn marks.

I love love love that this cookware is oven safe up to 428 °F / 220 °C. Yes…I can use it on the stove or place into the oven. That is an amazing feature which adds such versatility when cooking meals.

    I’m one of those people who toss everything into things…I’d start with whatever fresh veggies I have on hand (usually mushrooms, onions, carrots, chinese cabbage) and toss in some frozen things as well (peas or broc). Then I’d heat that up, toss in whatever left over meat we have and maybe add rice to the dish or noodles.
